Steve Cramer assumed the role of Senior Vice President & Chief Product Officer of Protective’s Retirement Division in January of 2020, for which he is responsible for the strategy, management, pricing, and manufacturing of the Division’s institutional and retail product portfolio. Since joining Protective in 2012, he has served in a variety of roles within product development. Leading into his current role, Steve served the corporate risk management team as the Vice President and Head of Asset and Annuity Risk.

Earlier in his career before joining Protective, Steve held actuarial roles at both Security Benefit Group and American General Finance.

Steve previously served on the LIMRA Annuity Committee and currently volunteers with the Society of Actuaries through the Professional Development Leadership Network. Within Protective, he serves on the grant-making committee of the corporate philanthropy entity, the Protective Life Foundation, which awarded $4.5M to 192 organizations in 2022. Steve’s commitment to serving others continues into his role as a board member of the American Baseball Foundation, a non-profit organization dedicated to educating elementary-aged youth through sports-based academics.

He earned a mathematics degree from Kansas State University and is a Fellow of the Society of Actuaries. Steve also has a master’s degree in Family Financial Planning and Counseling from the University of Alabama.
