Aon: Next Gen Disaster Finance: A New Model for Impact-Driven Climate Recovery
Aon’s catastrophe bond for Jamaica provides rapid, pre-agreed disaster funding by using parametric triggers tied to hurricane strength and location, enabling payouts within weeks rather than months. The first catastrophe bond sponsored by a Caribbean government and small island state, it gives climate-vulnerable economies a scalable way to access global capital markets, accelerate recovery and reduce the fiscal strain of major disasters.
