The University of North Texas BBA program in Risk Management and Insurance is one of the premier programs in the Southwest. The BBA program with a professional field in Risk Management and Insurance (RMI) offers a comprehensive insurance curriculum, preparing its students for a variety of career possibilities. Over the last forty years, some 120-130 majors have graduated per decade.

The RMI curriculum consists of the following seven courses: introduction to risk management and insurance, property and liability insurance, insurance company operations, life insurance, estate planning, risk management, and employee benefit programs. In addition, undergraduate majors may earn another three semester hours for an internship. The RMI curriculum at UNT is integral to many of the other professional field programs offered by the College and the Department of Mathematics. The RMI program at UNT works closely with the risk management and insurance industry in Texas, and particularly those in the DFW area, to bring real world experience to the students. Each semester industry experts across different disciplines in risk management and insurance visit every RMI class. In addition, throughout the year, RMI students have ample opportunities to interact with RMI professionals in the industry by attending various industry functions within the state of Texas, and through numerous functions sponsored by the Beta Zeta Chapter of Gamma Iota Sigma. Students enrolled in the RMI programs at UNT enjoy generous support from the Texas risk management and insurance industry. Support comes in the forms of both scholarships and other awards.
